#46: Embroidered Viking Hood

Based on a fragment found in a Tenth Century Viking Grave at Mammen Denmark. Two quirky beasties worked in chain stitch with DMC Tapisserie wool which was split to use two of the 4 strands. The embroidery was worked on Melton wool and the seams decorated in white wool Osenstich embroidery.

Some simple seam treatments for two linen Viking underdresses. Both worked with DMC Perle 8 cotton. The first one is a variation of interlaced herringbone stitch which was worked on the neck, cuffs and hem. Interlaced herring bone usually has one longer thread on top.
